UC San Diego Wins Four Straight Games to Win the Southern Pacific Regional Tournament!

After suffering a tough extra-inning loss against Cal Berkeley in game one on Friday, the UCSD Club Baseball team rebounded to win four straight elimination games to secure a spot in the NCBA World Series in Columbus, Georgia. The Tritons had their backs against the wall all weekend, but played spectacular baseball in four straight games to win the regional tournament. After falling to Cal in game one 8-7, UCSD beat Cal State Fullerton and the University of Antelope Valley 15-2 and 14-4, respectively, on Saturday. On championship Sunday, the Tritons were down 3-1 in the 9th inning of game one, facing sure elimination from the tournament and an end to a great season. But down to their last two outs, UC San Diego put up five runs to take a 6-3 lead in the top of the 9th. In the home half of the inning, Cal Berkeley was unable to put up three runs, and the Tritons forced game two. The final game was tight early, as Cal hung around in the early innings, keeping the score tied at 4-4. But the Tritons put up eight more runs in the next five innings and shut down the Berkeley offense, taking the championship game 12-4. The team will now travel to Columbus, Georgia, to play in the NCBA DI World Series at Golden Ball Park beginning May 25th. 2012 SoPac Regional Tournament is Set for This Weekend in Henderson, Nevada!

The UCSD Club Baseball team heads to Nevada this weekend to take on a competitive field of SoPac Conference Champions in this year's SoPac Regional Tournament. A trip to the NCBA World Series is on the line as the four best teams from the region battle it out at Burkholder Park. The field consists of the University of Antelope Valley, UC Berkeley, Cal State Fullerton, and UC San Diego. The Tritons take on Cal Berkeley at 4pm on Friday in the opening game of the tournament.
